The new system from SAP will help us optimize production, says Nikolas Uhrin from Pulsar Expo

The SAP Discovery Day in Bratislava brought several stories of companies that decided to support their growth by innovating company systems. One of the companies that came to share with the audience the experience of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition cloud ERP implementation project was the manufacturing company, Pulsar Expo. On the stage it was represented by Mr. Nikolas Uhrin, who works as a Branch Director at Pulsar Expo. In the interview, the transcript of which we bring you, he emphasized the need for careful preparation for the project and the importance of 100% use of the test system by the customer. At the same time, he pointed out that one of the key decisions is the choice of an experienced implementation partner with a systematic approach.

At Pulsar Expo, you decided to implement an ERP solution from SAP. What was the main reason for this choice?

In the past our company has faced serious security issues regarding our existing information system. We have therefore decided that it is necessary to switch to a more secure system. An important factor for choosing SAP was our cooperation with Volkswagen and MAN, which also use the SAP system. Choosing an information system from SAP was therefore a logical step. We knew that SAP was a robust system that should fully cover our needs. We are currently working on finalizing the implementation of this system.

How did you prepare for the implementation? What steps were needed to be taken?

The entire process of the preparation for the implementation was accompanied by thorough planning and gradual realization of our vision for the new system. MIBCON SK was our implementation partner which accompanied us through the entire process. Their systematic approach was key to the entire preparation. We started with discussions about what our SAP system would look like and what it should contain. With the help of the Digital Discovery Assessment tool, we then selected the features we really needed. MIBCON SK guided us through the whole process so that we could start learning as soon as possible. Working with the test database then allowed us to understand how the system works. We gradually learned everything important which is needed to work with this system.

What stage of implementation are you currently at Pulsar Expo?

The SAP system has been in production operation since May of this year (2023, author’s note), and its basic modules, in our case the entire warehouse records and all financial modules, work without problems. We are currently in the phase of starting production. The data for the first concrete TORSUS PRAETORIAN vehicles has already been implemented and the first production orders have started. We are at a stage where we focus not only on individual system modules, but also on all possible connections. The SAP system is very extensive, so we are always discovering new ways to make the most of it.

What would you advise companies that are considering the implementation of the SAP system or are looking for a suitable implementation partner?

When choosing an implementation partner, it is important to emphasize its ability to take a systematic approach. It is essential that the implementer not only knows how to install the system, but also helps you understand it and guides you through the entire process from start to finish. It should show you how the system works and how to use it effectively. I also consider the possibility to work with the test database as much as possible and to get to know all the functions of the system as best as possible.
