With this innovation of ours, you can store the stock of one item for several different plants, warehouses, generally owners in one warehouse location without having to physically distinguish them.
In the picking zone, we have a physical inventory of an item that represents the accounting inventory of multiple warehouses, plants or owners on the ERP side. However, it is not desirable to break down the physical inventory by its accounting affiliation; instead, we want to treat it as a total quantity. Thus, we can move and inventory it as a single anonymised stock.
The EWM standard will not allow for anonymized inventory in the warehouse, each quantum is technically assigned to a specific plant and warehouse combination in ERP inventory management.
In terms of inventory management in EWM, the inventory of the different plants/warehouses belongs to one homogeneous inventory type. This means that physically identical pieces of the same item in one stock position are not visibly differentiated.
The assignment of a stock of goods to an accounting plant/warehouse is derived only according to the warehouse operations that change the total quantity of the stock (receipt into the warehouse, dispatch, inventory). In most cases, it is therefore derived e.g. by plant and warehouse on delivery and is only handled on the interface with the ERP, not in the EWM inventory.
Special logic is used to determine the inventory jurisdiction for inventory losses or additions when there is no primary ERP document for the movement. All accounting requirements are met.
Overall, the solution greatly simplifies the work with the EWM inventory.
