SAP EWM Add-ons (13): Canceling outbound deliveries via reader

Discover our SAP EWM extension designed to simplify the process of canceling outbound deliveries and returning goods to stock directly from the warehouse worker’s mobile terminal.

Business case

Reverse logistics processes are often a significant burden in the warehouse, and while they can’t be completely avoided, they can be managed efficiently. For instance, when goods are already prepared for dispatch, but the customer cancels their order. Quickly and clearly handling such requests not only reduces disruption but also offers the opportunity to promptly make the goods available to other customers.

While the outbound delivery cancellation process in SAP EWM is relatively flexible, the standard procedure involves several complex steps that cannot be executed directly from a mobile terminal.

That’s why we have developed an add-on that simplifies this process, adds additional useful features, and allows for clear handling within a single application on the scanner.

mib:solution

An integrated application on the mobile terminal that enables to:

  • scan the originally issued handling unit
  • select a specific material item from it and trace back to the original outbound delivery item
  • enter the required quantity for the cancellation movement, including the option to select a serial number if necessary
  • perform a partial cancellation of the outbound delivery for this shipment
  • adjust (reduce) the quantity on the shipping order
  • create a warehouse task for returning the stock to storage
  • initiate the direct execution of this return-to-storage process

The application allows you to return even a partial quantity of a specific item to stock, including from a handling unit that contains items from multiple shipping orders (so-called Cross-delivery HU).

With our application on the RF reader, you can handle the process of outbound delivery cancellation and return-to-stock more easily.
